ServiceMax's platform is built on SalesForce force.com cloud technology. ServiceMax's cloud-based, mobile-ready field service software solution supports companies across industries to manage contracts, scheduling and parts. It also provides SaaS (Software as a Service) mobile and cloud solutions for parts logistics, work order management, communication and analytics accessible through mobile devices. Customers include communications, technology, industrial equipment, medical devices, and utilities industries.

In January 2016, ServiceMax introduced Connected Field Service, an Internet of things (IoT) solution that connects machines directly to the technicians who service them. In April 2016, the company introduced Service Performance Metrics, a measurement framework for using field service data to optimize and govern business activity. Customers include communications, technology, industrial equipment, medical devices and utilities industries.[2][3][11] As of January 2016, the ServiceMax platform includes mobile, cloud, Internet of things and web offerings.

History

Maxplore Technologies was founded by Athani Krishnaprasad and Hari Subramanian in the late 1990s as a consulting company focusing on customer relationship management. A client requested Maxplore build a field service module on the Salesforce platform. The project took 2 weeks and in 2007, was entered in the "AppExchange Challenge" at the Dreamforce conference. The project won $2 million in funding from Emergence Capital and went on to win the Force Million Dollar Challenge in 2008 when the company changed its name to ServiceMax.

Investors

As of 2016, ServiceMax has received $204 million in funding. The company completed a $82 million Series F round in August 2015 led by PremjiInvest and GE. In March 2014, the company received $71 million in Series E funding led by Meritech Capital Partners. In November 2012, ServiceMax received a $27 million Series D funding round. In June 2011, the company received $14 million in Series C funding led by Mayfield Fund. In April 2010, ServiceMax received $8 million in Series B funding led by Trinity Ventures. On November 14, 2016, General Electric Co.'s GE Digital unit announced a deal to buy ServiceMax for $915 million. The acquisition was completed on January 10, 2017.
